Frequently Asked Questions
As a counselling professional, asking the right questions is very important. Below you will find a compilation of the most common questions I’ve been asked about therapy and the services I provide. Is Therapy Confidential?
Yes. It is very important for me to respect your privacy and confidentiality. As a BACP Registered and Accredited therapist and Registered Member of the EMDR Association UK and Ireland, associations I adhere to the strict Standards of conduct, which ensures the privacy, safety and well-being of my clients. I attend regular supervision. Both supervisor and myself abide by these standards of conduct.
What if I need to cancel?
After the initial assessment we will agree a mutually convenient time to meet. I strongly suggest attending the first 6 weeks of therapy consecutively. Cancellations within 48 hours of the appointment will incur a 50% charge of the session fee.
How long will therapy take?
As individuals respond to treatment differently, I recommend six initial sessions and then we can review the progress made. Some Issues can take longer depending on the complexity and nature of the problem. Attending weekly is best as it maintains focus and progress. Fortnightly sessions can be considered in some circumstances.
What if I'm going on holiday or need to change my session time?
As long as I have notice for holidays that is fine, I will also give you notice of any planned holiday I'm going to take. With sessions I allocate a time which will be our planned regular slot. I will try to find a time to suit us both mutually at the onset of therapy. This session is allocated and is the same time and place each session, this gives continuity and structure to our therapy. I understand circumstances can change and if there is an alternative session time, I can move you to then I will discuss this with you.
